IBA

IBA is an Ahmedabad-based Indian beauty and personal-care brand founded in 2012 by sisters Mauli Teli and Grishma Teli after they returned from professional work in the United States. The Iba cosmetics brand launched in 2014 following research into the need for Halal-certified cosmetics and personal-care products, with an initial portfolio spanning skincare, haircare, makeup, and fragrances. Its identity centers on Halal-certified, PETA-certified vegan and cruelty-free products; the name is described as Arabic in origin and meaning self-respect and pride in oneself. The brand’s positioning around ethical beauty was developed to serve Muslim, Jain, vegetarian, and vegan consumers with products free of animal-derived ingredients and alcohol. In November 2022, Singapore-based Believe Pte. Ltd. acquired a majority stake in Iba through a Series B financing, and Iba joined Believe’s house of brands while Mauli and Grishma Teli continued to lead it.
