If Floral
APOTHIA grew out of Ron Robinson’s Los Angeles retail business in the Fred Segal environment. Between 1999 and 2000, Robinson developed the brand’s first original perfume and named APOTHIA by combining “apothecary” and “utopia.” He launched its fragrance and candle line in 2000, developing the debut scent, IF, with feedback from 100 clients during formulation. APOTHIA frames its character as a meeting of apothecary tradition and California modernism, informed by Los Angeles fashion, progressive culture, urban energy and sunshine. IF remains central to the brand’s story as its first fragrance and signature icon, described as a crisp citrus composition with frangipani, gardenia and other white florals.
