Ilana Jivago founded JIVAGO Brands in Beverly Hills in 1994. The brand’s identity centers on fragrance as a medium for memory, emotion, symbolism, and spiritual or cosmic harmony, with gold recurring in its design. Its defining fragrance, JIVAGO 24K, debuted in Cannes in 1994 before launching nationally in major U.S. department stores in 1995; its flacon contained genuine 24-karat gold leaves, and the fragrance received a 1996 FiFi nomination for innovative technology. In 1997, JIVAGO connected scent with music through 7 Notes and 7 Elements, with original campaign music composed by Jivago and part of the profits directed to schools and young musicians. Millennium Hope followed in 2000 with a multifaceted spherical flacon whose design received FiFi nominations, while Connect was created around reconciliation, understanding, and hope after 9/11. The fragrance-led brand later extended into scarves, body products, and watches. JIVAGO 24K is described as the brand’s debut and a best-seller, and was recognized as an iconic classic by the Fragrance Foundation in 2012.
