J. Del Pozo

Jesús del Pozo opened his first clothing boutique on Madrid’s Calle Almirante in 1974, establishing the fashion house associated with his name. The house presented its first men’s collection in Paris in 1976 and its first women’s prêt-à-porter collection in 1980. Its creative identity emphasized experimental, emotionally oriented design, with attention to volume, material, organic forms, and the meeting of tradition and modernity. Del Pozo received the Aguja de Oro in 1982 and the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts in 1998, and in 1999 helped found Spain’s Association of Fashion Designers. The house entered perfumery in 1992 with Duende, the designer’s first perfume. Halloween followed in 1997 and became the most successful Jesús del Pozo fragrance; in 2015, its success led Perfumes y Diseño to reorganize the former fragrance catalogue under a separate Halloween brand and collection. In 2012, the fashion label was relaunched as DELPOZO. Its fashion division closed in 2019, and definitive closure was announced for summer 2021.
