J. Lesquendieu
J. Lesquendieu was founded in Paris in 1903 by Joseph Lesquendieu, a pharmacist-perfumer, at 5 bis rue de la Tacherie, and appeared that year in the Paris commercial almanac. The house created an American division in New York in 1904; by 1960, its founder’s grandson said, it was present in more than 20 countries. Joseph Lesquendieu was appointed a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in January 1926 for his contribution to the perfume and beauty industry. After his death in 1962, perfume production continued until the end of the 1970s, followed by dormancy from the early 1980s. A revival project and new team were established in 2014, and Jérôme Lesquendieu relaunched the brand in 2015, combining family inheritance and vision with the work of Parisian artistic director Lucca Bernadou de Commarque. Its Historical Collection preserves five fragrances attributed to Joseph Lesquendieu, created between 1903 and 1953; Lesquendieu Le Parfum was his first fragrance and is identified as a cornerstone of the house. In 2021, Jérôme Lesquendieu created the Oriental Collection, extending the brand’s fragrance identity beyond its historical fragrances.
