J-Scent
J-Scent is a Japanese fragrance collection created by LUZ, a perfume business established in 1998 and incorporated as LUZ Co., Ltd. in 2001. LUZ began developing original fragrance brands in 2004, and launched J-Scent in 2017 around the idea of capturing the scent of Japan in a bottle. Its creative identity draws on Japanese aesthetics, traditions, cultural heritage, nature, and distinctive everyday scents, presenting contemporary Japanese life through narratives of memory. Founder and creator Tetsu Amada formed Team LUZ, a multidisciplinary group bringing together perfumers, evaluators, planners, designers, directors, and producers. J-Scent’s Black Leather won Best New Niche Fragrance at the 2019 Pure Beauty Global Awards. Yawahada, identified in J-Scent’s press material as the collection’s No. 1 popular fragrance, is linked to Yasunari Kawabata’s novel The House of the Sleeping Beauties. In January 2026, Leo Sophia Group acquired all shares of LUZ through its succession-investment company, Shoukei Alliance, making it J-Scent’s owner.
