Jaguar Cars

Jaguar Cars traces its origins to 1922, when William Lyons founded the Swallow Sidecar Company. The Jaguar name first appeared on the SS Jaguar model in 1935. On 23 March 1945, shareholders approved changing the company name to Jaguar Cars Limited, a decision linked in Jaguar’s history to the wartime notoriety associated with the SS name. The 1948 XK120 became a major engineering and design milestone, reaching 133 mph and becoming the world’s fastest production car. Jaguar’s post-war identity was strongly shaped by the C-Type, D-Type, and E-Type: the C-Type won Le Mans in 1951, the D-Type won three consecutive Le Mans races, and the E-Type debuted in 1961. After mergers that led to British Leyland, Jaguar became a separate publicly listed company in 1984; Ford acquired it during the late-1989/1990 transition. In November 2024, Jaguar announced a creative reset built around Exuberant Modernism, Copy Nothing, and a new visual identity. Its licensed fragrance heritage includes Jaguar for Men, recorded as a 1989 release.
