James Bond 007
Created by Ian Fleming, James Bond first appeared in Casino Royale, published in 1953. The character’s identity later developed from Fleming’s novels into a film franchise and broader entertainment property. In 1961, Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli formed EON Productions to produce Bond films, making Dr. No in 1962 under an agreement with United Artists. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli subsequently produced the nine films from GoldenEye through No Time To Die. Amazon’s 2022 acquisition of MGM gave it rights to distribute all James Bond films. On March 24, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios, Wilson, and Broccoli completed a joint venture under which they remain co-owners of the James Bond intellectual property, while Amazon MGM gained creative control. Wilson stepped back from producing the films, and Broccoli said she was moving on to other projects as Amazon MGM assumed leadership of future productions.
