Jan Barba
Jan Barba was established in Poland in 2015 as a natural-cosmetics brand focused initially on skincare and herbal extracts. Its name had been developed in England around 2013–2014: “Barba” means “beard” in Italian, while “Jan” refers to Bartosz Puzio’s grandfather and to his middle name. The brand entered perfumery in 2018 with Superiore and Chypre, then in 2022 stopped developing cosmetics to focus exclusively on perfumery. Today, Jan Barba is a Warsaw perfumery house whose identity centers on original compositions and Puzio’s self-taught authorship, drawing on craftsmanship, traditional perfumery methods, natural ingredients, and classic accords including chypre, fougère, and cologne. At the end of 2023, it introduced Aiyoku and Olympia as Eau de Toilette fragrances using both natural materials and aroma molecules for the first time in the brand’s compositions. Aiyoku draws inspiration from Alex Kerr’s Lost Japan, evoking Japanese forest landscapes and cedar-wood houses.
