Jan Moran
Jan Moran is a fragrance author, authority, independent publisher, and creator of her own fragrance. Her fragrance publishing company, Crescent House Publishing, was established in 1994, the same year her first book, Fabulous Fragrances, appeared; Fabulous Fragrances II followed in 2000. The business later encompassed licensed fragrance descriptions, articles, lectures, consulting, books, and fragrances. Moran also created the Fabulous Fragrances of the World online database with Michael Edwards, a resource intended for retailers and journalists that recorded more than 4,600 fragrances by 2005. Her fragrance, Fabulous, was released in 1997 and is classified as a classical floral-oriental fragrance. Drawing on her book-based expertise, Moran developed Scentsa, a touch-screen fragrance-finding system introduced by Sephora in selected stores in 2008. Sephora acquired Scentsa from Crescent House Publishing in 2013, including its software and intellectual-property rights. Moran’s later public creative identity has centered primarily on fiction and historical novels, while fragrance and beauty remain part of her professional background.
