Jane Iredale
Jane Iredale founded Iredale Cosmetics in 1994 after working as a casting director and producer in the entertainment industry. The company emerged from her observation that conventional makeup could undermine skin health, with a founding aim of pairing high-performance makeup with care for the skin. Its first product, Amazing Base, was a loose mineral powder, and plastic surgeons and dermatologists used the early makeup for patients with skin issues and after laser resurfacing. Over time, Jane Iredale developed from a mineral-makeup business into a skincare-makeup brand that combines makeup performance with skincare benefits, minerals, natural ingredients, clean ingredients, and an emphasis on professional skincare practitioners. A later restage updated the logo, packaging, advertising, website, and digital channels while retaining its professional-channel heritage and mission. On January 22, 2019, San Francisco Equity Partners acquired a majority stake; Jane Iredale and Robert D. Montgomery retained a significant minority interest, and Iredale remained involved.
