Jason Wu
Jason Wu debuted its namesake company in 2007 as a New York-based house offering the signature Jason Wu Collection and a contemporary line. Its identity combines American luxury, sophistication, glamour, refinement, American sportswear, couture craftsmanship, and modern femininity. A major public milestone came in 2009, when Jason Wu’s inaugural-ball gown for Michelle Obama helped establish the label in American fashion. The house has received the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, the Fashion Group International Fashion Star Award, and Canadian International Designer of the Year. Ownership changed in April 2019, when China-based private-equity fund Green Harbor Investment acquired a majority stake in JWU LLC from InterLuxe and became its controlling shareholder. Fragrance entered the brand’s story in 2017 with Jason Wu, launched around the label’s tenth anniversary. The floral scent features jasmine sambac, peony, and lily of the valley, with jasmine connected to Wu’s childhood memories in Taiwan; Jason Wu Beauty followed, developing an approach centered on effortless, chic beauty and refined femininity.
