Fragrance house

Jean Couturier

Jean and Jacqueline Couturier founded their perfume house in 1972. Jacqueline, who came from a family of perfumers and trained in Grasse, shaped the house’s creative identity as a perfumer, while Jean brought earlier experience in haute couture and in helping launch fragrances for Yves Saint Laurent and Azzaro. The house’s defining fragrance, Coriandre, was created by Jacqueline in 1973. It combined chypre structure with floral notes, particularly rose and jasmine, and was relaunched and reformulated in 1993. VAG & Distribution acquired Parfums Jean Couturier in 2009, and Jean Couturier is part of its brand portfolio.
