Jean Luc Amsler
Jean-Luc Amsler launched his own haute-couture brand in Paris in 1992, after earlier work with Yves Saint Laurent, André Courrèges, Jean Louis Scherrer, and Christian Dior. The brand’s public identity centered on Amsler’s fashion design, including fluid silhouettes, metallic fabrics, and unconventional cuts. In 2000, he reconnected professionally with Jean-Luc François, and they jointly developed ready-to-wear, accessories, and perfumes under the Jean Luc Amsler name. Ownership of the fashion house changed in December 2002 when a Swiss financier acquired a majority stake, while Amsler and François remained its creators and retained creative freedom. The brand presented a Spring/Summer 2003 collection at Paris’s Carrousel du Louvre and held a Paris haute-couture show on 25 January 2012 in connection with a runway appearance by Jerry Hall. Amsler’s later work extended into fashion-art collaborations and a non-binary, ethical, and sustainable creative direction through the exhibition “Blow Up.”
