Fragrance house
Jean Philippe
Jean Philippe traces to the fragrance business founded in 1982 by Philippe Benacin and Jean Madar. Its U.S. corporation was incorporated in Delaware in May 1985 as Jean Philippe Fragrances, Inc., changed its name to Inter Parfums, Inc. in July 1999, and retained Jean Philippe Fragrances for some mass-market products. The business initially focused on mass-market fragrances, including sales in South America and the Middle East, before signing its first selective fragrance license under Régine’s in 1988. A 1993 fragrance agreement with Burberry marked its move into luxury fragrance and supported the development of a luxury-brand portfolio. Interparfums later moved from licensing into brand ownership, acquiring Lanvin perfumes in 2007 and Maison Rochas, including its perfumes and fashion, in 2015. Today, Interparfums, Inc. presents itself as a global fragrance company operating through European and U.S. segments, while Jean Philippe Fragrances is documented as a former corporate name and a retained name for selected mass-market products. Its creative approach focuses on translating partner brands’ histories and identities into fragrance through collaboration among brands, Interparfums, and perfumers.
