Fragrance house
Jivago
Founded by Ilana Jivago in Beverly Hills, California, in 1994, Jivago Fragrances is built around a founder-led vision of scent as a vehicle for emotion, memory, storytelling, and radiance. Its first fragrance was inspired by a memory of Ilana Jivago’s mother’s scent, while the house’s public identity is strongly associated with genuine 24-karat gold suspended inside its bottles. JIVAGO 24K debuted in Cannes in 1994 and launched nationally at major high-end U.S. department stores in 1995; it received a FiFi Award nomination for innovative technology in 1996, and Jivago’s use of gold in fragrance was reported as patented in 1997. The fragrance history continued with 7 Notes for Women and 7 Elements for Men in 1997, Millennium Hope in 2000, and Connect, inspired by Ilana Jivago’s response to the worldwide disconnection she felt after 9/11. In 2011 and 2012, the Golden Collection added fragrances inspired by shades including white gold and rose gold. JIVAGO 24K remains the house’s signature fragrance and was a 2012 Fragrance Foundation Hall of Fame finalist.
