Jo Malone London
Jo Malone London began in London in 1990, when Jo Malone founded the eponymous fragrance business. Its early growth came from handmade scents and products, including Nutmeg and Ginger Bath Oil made for facial clients, after which orders increased. The business developed into a British lifestyle brand spanning fragrance, bath, body and home products, with a creative identity rooted in British life and culture, unexpected ingredients and a signature of simplicity. In 1999, Estée Lauder acquired Jo Malone Limited, bringing Jo Malone London into its family of brands. Scent Pairing—layering fragrances to create a personalised scent—forms part of the brand’s philosophy, with each scent designed for layering. Its fragrance story includes Lime Basil & Mandarin, identified as a pioneering launch, and Wood Sage & Sea Salt, described as a contemporary classic, cultural reference point and one of the brand’s most-loved fragrances. In March 2026, Estée Lauder took legal action against Jo Malone over use of her name on a Zara fragrance, underscoring the separation between the founder’s later work and the Jo Malone London brand.
