Joan Rivers
The Joan Rivers Classics Collection launched publicly on QVC in September 1990 with jewelry, then expanded into clothing and accessories in 2007. The brand was shaped around Joan Rivers’s public identity as an entertainer, fashion commentator, jewelry designer, and entrepreneur, bringing fashion merchandise together with her distinctive comedic and red-carpet persona. Its evolution also included beauty: Joan Rivers Worldwide Enterprises encompassed skincare, cosmetics, and fragrances. On or about March 1, 1993, Regal Communications acquired Joan Rivers Products Inc. and Melissasmom Inc. from Rivers. After Rivers died on September 4, 2014, Melissa Rivers continued the brand’s leadership, while David Dangle carried forward Rivers’s creative vision and ran the company. The current identity remains anchored in the Joan Rivers Classics Collection and its collaborative design relationship with Dangle. A defining fragrance example is Now & Forever, Rivers’s own perfume, introduced in 2001 and described contemporaneously as light and very floral.
