Jones New York
Jones New York traces its story to 1966, when founder Sidney Kimmel envisioned clothing for the modern working woman. Jones Apparel was incorporated by Kimmel in 1975, with Jones New York serving as its careerwear label; its early positioning paired accessible clothing with designer-influenced style and quality for women entering the workforce. After becoming profitable in the early 1980s, the company underwent creditor-led reorganization in 1987 and returned to profit in 1988. Portfolio expansion followed in the 1990s and early 2000s, including Evan-Picone in 1992, a Jones New York menswear program in 1998, and the purchases of Nine West Group and Todd Oldham in 1999. Sycamore Partners acquired The Jones Group in 2014 and announced Jones New York’s separation as an independent operating company. Authentic Brands Group purchased the brand in 2015. Today, Jones New York is a lifestyle brand rooted in classic styling for the modern woman, with apparel, outerwear, and accessories at its center.
