Karen Walker

Karen Walker opened its first shop in Newmarket in 1993 and developed an irreverent, tongue-in-cheek approach to branding and campaigns. In 2002, Karen Walker presented her first solo show at London Fashion Week, where the recurring Runaway girl motif was introduced; the brand diversified into fine jewellery the following year. After debuting at New York Fashion Week in 2006, it stopped presenting runway collections in 2016 after 20 seasons. Its last traditional seasonal collection was released at the end of 2020, after which the brand moved toward monthly product releases and a stronger retail role. As of 2025, the business was wholly owned by Karen Walker and Mikhail Gherman. The brand spans ready-to-wear, eyewear, jewellery, bags and fragrance, with its identity centered on Walker’s energy and optimism and on contrasts including luxe and street, masculine and feminine, and folk and utility.
