Kate Somerville

Kate Somerville’s story began around the medispa that esthetician Kate Somerville opened in West Hollywood in 2004. Her experience providing medical skin treatments, along with a childhood history of eczema, informed a clinic-to-home approach built around science-backed treatments and custom formulations, with the aim of making professional skin-treatment results available for home use. The brand’s first named hero product, ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment, grew from a clinic facial treatment that a celebrity client wanted to take abroad. On 6 May 2015, Unilever completed its acquisition of Kate Somerville Skincare. In 2025, Unilever sold Kate Somerville and the West Hollywood skincare clinic to Rare Beauty Brands. Current US terms identify Kate Somerville Skincare, LLC as part of the Rare Beauty Brands portfolio, effective 10 November 2025.
