Kérastase
Kérastase was launched in 1964 by François Dalle as an L’Oréal brand intended to open professional haircare to hairdressers. It began in Paris salons, combining scientific expertise with professional hairdresser knowledge, and introduced comprehensive care that included a hair bath and scalp care. Its identity developed around personalized, science-led luxury haircare, salon diagnosis, and sensorial care rituals. Milestones included Bain Divalent in 1973, Nutritive in 1984, the first hair serum for dry lengths in 1989, and the personalized in-salon Fusio-Dose treatment in 2011. In 2010, Kérastase refreshed its visual identity and launched the Chronologiste and Elixir Ultime ranges; it identifies Elixir Ultime L’Huile Originale as its most iconic product. The brand launched Genesis in 2020, Curl Manifesto in 2021, and Symbiose and the Power Talks confidence initiative in 2023. Fragrance is an integral part of its haircare experience: Nutritive is associated with an iconic floral fragrance, while Chronologiste has a floral-centered scent. Kérastase remains an L’Oréal-created brand within L’Oréal’s Professional Products Division.
