Kirrin James
Kirrin James is an Australian independent fragrance label associated with Queensland-born, self-taught perfumer Kirrin James. Its first indie fragrance, Orientalist, was released in 2019, after James completed a basic perfumery course with UK teacher Karen Gilbert and researched and blended materials at home. The label’s creative identity is genderless, with compositions intended to be worn by everyone and guided by personal resonance rather than predetermined gender labels. It approaches perfume as an art form, favoring one-of-a-kind scents for smaller groups of fragrance lovers and artisanal-craft supporters. Its materials generally lean toward natural essential oils, absolutes and resinoids, while synthetic aromatics are used when they serve a compositional purpose. In 2022, Sagrada followed Orientalist as a fragrance dedicated to church-style incense, with a stronger focus on the material.
