Klorane

Klorane was launched in 1965 in southwest France by pharmacist Pierre Fabre, who acquired the Parisian Klorane laboratory and developed the brand around plant-based care. Its first product, a chamomile shampoo introduced in 1966 for blonde hair, established a method of pairing one plant with a specific concern and benefit. Its early evolution included calendula baby care and cornflower cleansing water, while Pierre Fabre formalized the principle “one plant to treat one symptom” in 1969. Klorane introduced dry shampoo in 1971 for new mothers in hospitals. Its identity combines plant heritage with scientific development, using plant-based active ingredients for targeted hair and skin needs. The Klorane Institute, created in 1994 to protect, explore and educate about plants and biodiversity, became the Klorane Botanical Foundation in 2016. Since 2018, the brand’s public identity has centered on “the Soul of Botany.” Klorane is owned by Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmétique within Laboratoires Pierre Fabre.
