Krizia

Krizia was founded in Milan in 1954 by Mariuccia Mandelli, taking a name adapted from Plato’s dialogue Critias and associated with feminine vanity. Mandelli presented Krizia’s first runway show at Florence’s Palazzo Pitti in 1964 and received the Fashion Critique Award, previously awarded only to Emilio Pucci. In the second half of the 1960s, Krizia was among the early Italian brands to move presentations from Florence to Milan, contributing to the city’s emergence as a fashion capital. Mandelli’s design language was associated with experimental materials, pleats, architectural forms, animal motifs, and an early version of hot pants presented in 1971. The label became prominent in Italian fashion during the 1980s and 1990s before receding from prominence. In 2014, Chinese entrepreneur Zhu Chongyun acquired Krizia, which became part of the Marisfrolg Fashion Group. After the acquisition, Zhu assumed creative direction and pursued a revival based on the archive and established codes interpreted from a contemporary perspective. Krizia entered perfumery in 1980 with K de Krizia, its first fragrance.
