Fragrance house
L'acqua Di Fiori
L’acqua di Fiori was founded in 1980 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, by Marlene and Leopoldo Mesquita. It began as a small perfume shop, then developed its own perfume and cosmetics industry when its supplier could not support the couple’s planned expansion. The brand began franchising in Brazil in 1983, and describes its identity as Brazilian fine perfumery rooted in perfume as memory, with continuity and innovation. It also increased perfume-essence concentration in a way associated with the European market, an innovation credited with helping establish it as a major name in Brazilian perfumery and cosmetics. By around 2010, it had reached 2,500 stores before declining to about 120 operating units by 2024 amid management and health-related challenges. A 2024 restructuring sought to preserve its original identity while refreshing the visual branding of established products. Its fragrance legacy includes a higher-essence line with names such as Laccio and Hit, remembered by consumers since the 1980s.
