L’Artisan

L’Artisan Parfumeur was founded in 1976 by Jean Laporte, whose approach explored unconventional olfactory territory through nature, originality, artisanal craftsmanship, and creative freedom. The house’s founding marked a landmark in the emergence of niche or connoisseur perfumery. In 1978, it created Mûre et Musc, built around blackberry and white musk; the fragrance became known as the fragrance of the Parisian woman. Olivia Giacobetti’s 1994 Premier Figuier was presented as the first fragrance built around the fig theme, another creative milestone for the house. On 23 January 2015, Puig acquired L’Artisan Parfumeur from Fox Paine & Company, and the house became part of Puig’s fragrance portfolio. Its identity is framed around French craftsmanship and creative freedom, with perfumers given substantial freedom to develop personal olfactory stories. In 2016, the collection received a contemporary makeover, and the house introduced Natura Fabularis, initially comprising six fragrances created by Daphné Bugey.
