Fragrance house
L'Artisan Parfumeur
Founded by Jean Laporte in 1976, L’Artisan Parfumeur developed around an artisan approach to fragrance, French savoir-faire, craftsmanship, authenticity, nature-inspired materials, and creative freedom beyond passing trends. In 1978, the house created Mûre et Musc and opened its first Paris store. The fragrance became a defining public success for L’Artisan Parfumeur and is described as an iconic, emblematic, and mythical scent. Olivia Giacobetti’s Premier Figuier, released in 1994, marked a major perfumery milestone as the first fragrance built around the fig note or theme. Puig acquired L’Artisan Parfumeur in 2015, after its ownership by Fox Paine & Company. The house’s current creative identity continues to emphasize freedom for perfumers, craftsmanship, and exploration beyond trends. In 2026, its 50th anniversary heritage program placed Laporte and Mûre et Musc at the center, including a limited re-edition in a hand-blown-glass bottle.
