L'Erbolario
L’Erbolario began in Lodi, Italy, in 1978, when Daniela Villa and Franco Bergamaschi opened a small artisan herbalist shop. Their work drew on a shared interest in medicinal plants, wild herbs gathered around Lodi, and family recipes for lotions, decoctions, and infusions. As demand spread beyond the original shop, the herbalist activity developed into a cosmetics brand reaching herbalists across Italy and later abroad. Its public identity is centered on plant-derived cosmetics, respect for people, animals, and the environment, and fragrances and packaging inspired by botanical traditions and old herbarium illustrations. In 2004, the founders combined their phytocosmetic experience with Dr. Fausto Mearelli’s phytotherapy expertise to establish Erbamea, a sister company focused on medicinal plants and food supplements. In 2021, L’Erbolario became a Benefit Corporation, incorporating goals concerning natural beauty, the planet, people, and the community into its corporate articles. Its fragrance legacy is collection-based rather than centered on one single family: Indigo and Ombra di Tiglio are identified among its best-selling fragrances, while the 45th-anniversary collection brought together established scents including Dolcelisir and Almond.
