L'Wren Scott

L’Wren Scott launched her eponymous fashion label in 2006, financing its first collection with her own money. Before founding the label, she had worked as a model in Paris and later as a Hollywood stylist and costume designer, experiences that informed how she dressed clients. The first collection, Little Black Dress, centered on wearable black clothing; the label subsequently expanded into ready-to-wear, bespoke clothing, and licensed categories. Scott described her design ideal as timeless, classic clothing that could be relied on and developed over time. That outlook was expressed through fitted, sculptural silhouettes, precise construction, and a highly feminine approach across the label’s ready-to-wear and bespoke work. Scott died in March 2014; no new collections appeared after spring/summer 2014, and the UK arm filed to dissolve in June 2015. In 2021, Christie’s presented 55 designs made between 2006 and 2014, with proceeds supporting the L’Wren Scott MA Fashion Scholarship established by Mick Jagger in 2015.
