La Roche-Posay
La Roche-Posay takes its name from a town in France’s Vienne region, where a thermal-spring tradition is traced to the 14th century and a dermatology thermal centre was established in 1905. French pharmacist René Levayer founded La Roche-Posay Laboratoire Dermatologique in 1975, building the brand around dermatological skincare and the town’s thermal mineral water. Its founding principles—Safety, Efficacy and Simplicity—shaped an identity grounded in dermatologist collaboration, clinical testing and care for sensitive or dermatologically affected skin. L’Oréal acquired La Roche-Posay in 1989, and the brand remains part of the L’Oréal Group. In 1995, it launched a foundation focused on dermatological research and skin-cancer prevention awareness. In 2022, the historic spa centre in France reopened alongside an identity combining wellness and mindful treatment with science and technology. By 2025, La Roche-Posay was presented as a 50-year dermatology brand centered on dermatologist-backed research and solutions for sensitive skin.
