Lagerfeld

Lagerfeld was founded by Karl Lagerfeld in 1984 as an eponymous ready-to-wear label, with its Parisian maison established at 21 Rue Saint-Guillaume in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The brand’s identity is closely tied to Lagerfeld’s work across his own label, Chanel, and Fendi, as well as his photography, illustration, styling, and publishing. Its visual language combines Parisian classics, rock-chic styling, tailored silhouettes, and a contemporary forward-looking approach. The label was sold to the Tommy Hilfiger Group in 2005, and Vogue later reported that Apax Partners owned the brand during the 2010s. Karl Lagerfeld died on 19 February 2019; Hun Kim subsequently continued as creative director, developing the identity in dialogue with Lagerfeld’s legacy and contemporary influences. Fragrance predates the fashion label: a Karl Lagerfeld fragrance brand was founded in 1978, and fragrance rights are licensed to Inter Parfums through October 2032. In 2024, a new fragrance used a bottle reproducing the designer’s recognizable silhouette, connecting its presentation to his public image.
