Lancaster
Lancaster was founded in Monaco in 1946 by Georges Würz and Dr. Eugène Frezzati, initially developing as a beauty and skincare company with early products including Crème Embryonnaire, Sérum Tissulaire, and Lait pour les Mains. In 1965, it received a royal appointment as a supplier to Princess Grace of Monaco and promoted its Ligne Princière line in connection with that relationship. Beecham acquired a majority holding in Lancaster in 1967; after Beecham merged with SmithKline Beckman, SmithKline Beecham sold the Lancaster cosmetics business to Joh. A. Benckiser GmbH in 1990. Benckiser combined Lancaster with other luxury beauty brands into the Lancaster Division within Coty in 1996, and Coty currently lists it among its prestige brands. Lancaster’s identity is centered on skincare repair, protection, and photoaging expertise. In 2020, it was repositioned from a regional UV-protection brand toward skincare enhancement and renewal; today, its public profile is primarily built around sun care and skin care.
