Lapidus

Ted Lapidus created his own fashion house in Paris in 1951. Its design identity drew on street fashion, uniform and unisex ideas, while its emblem developed from military medals and incorporated an anchor and fleurs-de-lis. In 1963, Lapidus joined the Paris Haute Couture Trade Association. The house expanded into accessories during the 1970s, and fragrances were launched through a partnership with L’Oréal in 1970. Vu, released in 1975, was identified as the first Ted Lapidus fragrance. After Ted Lapidus retired in 1982, his son Olivier became head of the house. The Jacques Bogart Group signed the perfume license in 1983, and the Ted Lapidus brand became its property in 1995. The couture division officially ended in 2000, after which the label focused exclusively on accessories and fragrances. Its fragrance presentation includes lines such as Création, Rumba, Fantasme, Lapidus pour Homme and Altamir.
