Lazarus Douvos
Founded by hairstylist Lazarus Douvos, the brand combines fine fragrance with hair care, beginning with the ROSE 1845 collection. Douvos was born in Melbourne to Greek immigrant parents and began his career in ballet before moving into hairdressing. In the early 1990s, he moved to Florence, where he worked as a senior stylist and consultant for Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo, then returned to Melbourne and opened an eponymous salon. After moving to New York in 2009, he styled Joan Rivers, collaborated with Garren, created editorial looks for US Vogue, and contributed to Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren runway shows. His concept of merging perfume’s emotional resonance with the ritual of hair care continues to shape the brand’s perfume-led hair-care and rose-infused beauty products. ROSE 1845, publicly introduced in February 2020 as Douvos’s first perfume, is identified as the brand’s signature scent and was created with Christophe Laudamiel. The subsequent unisex Love Note Collection, developed with Jean Claude Delville, includes We Met in Roma, You Kissed Me in Paris, and I Went Down on You in St. Tropez.
