Le Chameau
Founded in 1927 in Cherbourg, Normandy, by bootmaker Claude Chamot, Le Chameau began with natural-rubber boots made for farmers, hunters, and fishermen. Chamot established a Normandy workshop in 1939 and opened a Casablanca facility in 1949; during this expansion, the business adopted the Le Chameau name. The brand’s identity is rooted in handcrafted rubber footwear, master bootmaking, durability, and country pursuits. In 1950, it introduced the Saint-Hubert, described as the first rubber boot lined with leather and a signature design among country professionals. On 25 November 2019, Le Chameau entered a strategic partnership with Bradshaw Taylor, which acquired a substantial equity stake, while the business operated within the Marwyn portfolio. In 2025, it separated from that strategic partner and re-established itself as a standalone business. A collaboration with Patou later brought Le Chameau’s natural-rubber craftsmanship into a fashion context.
