Fragrance house
Le Jardin
Founded in Paris in 1975 by master perfumer Yuri Gutsatz, Le Jardin Retrouvé began as his own perfume house. Arlette Gutsatz helped shape its early identity by creating the logo, developing the product collection, and managing worldwide commercial development. After Yuri’s death in 2005 and Arlette’s in 2012, the house entered a dormant phase. Their son Michel Gutsatz and his wife, artist Clara Feder, decided to revive the brand in 2016, with the relaunch taking place in 2017. The revival preserved Yuri Gutsatz’s fragrance formulas, processes, and historical suppliers while reworking the identity and formulas around the ideas of the garden and well-being. Perfumer Maxence Moutte became the principal creative collaborator for the revived house, creating Mousse Arashiyama in 2021, Osmanthe Liu Yuan in 2023, Violette Kew in 2024, and Immortelle Babylone in 2025. The house is described as the first perfume house founded by a perfumer and as a pioneer of niche perfumery. Tubéreuse Trianon is identified as its best-selling fragrance, while Cuir de Russie is described as an iconic scent associated with Yuri and Michel Gutsatz.
