Fragrance house
Legend
Legend is a Montblanc fragrance line launched in 2011, following the house’s long history in writing instruments. Montblanc originated in 1906, when August Eberstein, Alfred Nehemias and Claus Johannes Voss created non-leaking writing instruments; the company introduced Rouge et Noir in 1909 and adopted the Montblanc name and six-point white-star emblem in 1910. It later expanded into leather goods, watches, eyewear and high jewellery, with fragrances part of that broader offering since 2001. In 1993, Richemont created Vendôme Luxury Group, whose maisons included Montblanc, and Richemont currently lists Montblanc among its maisons. Montblanc and Interparfums established an exclusive worldwide fragrance license in 2010, covering the creation, production and distribution of perfumes and related products. Legend Femme followed in 2012. Legend is described as Montblanc’s bestselling fragrance line and as the starting point of its fragrance story; perfumer Olivier Pescheux shaped its creative direction by translating the house’s writing-inspired values into scent.
