Liis

Founded by Alissa Sullivan and Leslie Hendin, who grew up minutes apart in Marin County, California, Liis began taking shape in 2017 after the pair’s shared early fascination with perfume. Based in California, the brand launched a beta discovery set in 2020 and three full-size fragrances in 2021. Its modern eau de parfums treat scent as a form of personal expression, drawing on experiences, emotions, places, and ideas while leaving interpretation to the wearer. Sullivan’s perfumery training at ISIPCA and Hendin’s design and artistic background shaped this founder-led approach, developed with perfumer Jérôme Epinette, who helped translate their concepts into finished compositions. Liis introduced the green fragrance In This World in February 2024, extending its experience-led creative language through a lush earthly landscape. Among its fragrance examples, Bo draws on the Northern California area where the founders grew up, while Ethereal Wave centers on white and black tea and was selected as a best white-tea fragrance in a 2025 editorial guide. The founders have self-funded Liis since its launch.
