Lola James Harper
Lola James Harper was founded by Rami Mekdachi in 2013 and launched at the Parisian concept store Colette with an initial collection of 18 candles and room sprays. The project grew from Mekdachi’s family travels and developed as a family artistic venture involving Rami, Céline, Lili, and Noé Mekdachi, combining fragrance with photography, music, film, and other creative work. Before establishing the brand, Mekdachi began developing Hôtel Costes’ fragrance range in 2000; it launched in 2001. His practice translates the atmosphere and memories of real places and encounters into scent. Lola James Harper’s interdisciplinary work brings together place-based scents, images, songs, films, and collaborations with artists, cultural institutions, and hospitality or lifestyle projects. Its candles, room sprays, and perfumes are conceived as olfactory recollections of meaningful places, studios, shops, hotels, and personal encounters. Air de Colette, associated with the store, entered the Lola James Harper collection after Colette closed; NellyRodi reports that it had scented the store for 20 years.
