loriginaleviolettesdetoulouse
L’Originale Violettes de Toulouse is a fragrance line in the selective-brand portfolio of Berdoues Parfums et Cosmétiques, whose Toulouse perfume house was founded in 1902 by Guillaume and Pierre Berdoues. In 1936, Henri Berdoues created the fragrance in the second family generation, drawing inspiration from Toulouse’s violet and distilling the leaves rather than the flowers to produce a green, powdery character. Violet subsequently became a signature of Berdoues perfumes, and Violettes de Toulouse has been maintained in both eau de toilette and eau de parfum formats; the current eau de parfum is presented as a modern reinterpretation of Henri Berdoues’ original. The family business developed through successive generations, including a more modern production and research orientation from 1950 and an accessible eau-de-cologne line in the 1970s. In 2025, Compagnie Léa Nature became the majority shareholder of the Berdoues group, with the change presented as preserving its family identity and historical commitments.
