Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a Major League Baseball team based in Los Angeles and competing in the National League West. Founded in 1883, the franchise adopted the Dodgers moniker in 1932 and moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles before the 1958 season. The move west was announced on October 8, 1957, after 68 seasons in Brooklyn, and the club played its first Los Angeles game on April 18, 1958. In 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African-American player in the Major Leagues after joining the Brooklyn Dodgers, making the franchise central to the integration of modern Major League Baseball. The Dodgers won their first World Championship in 1955 and their first Los Angeles championship in 1959. Its established visual identity includes a blue script jersey wordmark, an interlocked L.A. cap mark, and red jersey numbers. On May 1, 2012, a bankruptcy reorganization sale transferred the Dodgers from Frank McCourt to Guggenheim Baseball Management.
