Lost Tribe

Founded in 2022 by Mathew Schmuelian, Lost Tribe is a New York City-based perfume house whose work grew from his early practice of collecting natural artisanal fragrances, macerating musk, and making perfumes of his own. The brand’s identity centers on reconnecting people with nature through fragrance and creating all-natural perfumes with ethically sourced natural ingredients. Schmuelian is the founder and principal creative figure, creating the perfumes, choosing concepts, and naming fragrances at the concept stage. Lost Tribe’s creative approach emphasizes natural florals, oud, musk, ambergris, and other animalic materials, including natural musk, ambergris, civet, and castoreum. Its first release, Hope You Like It, was made in 2022 in a batch of about 16 bottles; the brand’s logo was based on that release and its floral materials.
