Love

Love Cosmetics was introduced in 1969 by Menley & James Laboratories, a subsidiary of Smith Kline & French Laboratories, and originated in Philadelphia. Positioned for a new generation of women in the late 1960s and 1970s, the youth-oriented line included Eau De Love cologne from its launch period. In 1974, Love’s Baby Soft was introduced as an adult-oriented product built around a soft, powder-associated fragrance concept, and it became the brand’s defining fragrance example. Menley & James agreed in May 1980 to sell the Love Cosmetics business to Chattem of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Love’s fragrance trademarks later became part of the Dana fragrance portfolio. In 2025, after IMG Holdings entered Chapter 11 proceedings, a subsequent sale transferred Love’s Baby Soft and other legacy fragrance brands to Dana Heritage Finanz St. Honore Beauty; a November 20, 2025 trademark application lists that company as the current owner of LOVE’S BABY SOFT.
