Lucky Jeans

Founded in Los Angeles in 1990 by Gene Montesano and Barry Perlman, Lucky Brand began with a men’s jeans line before expanding into women’s apparel and broader lifestyle categories. Its identity is rooted in denim, Americana, self-expression, and vintage-inspired reinterpretation, with an irreverent, nonconformist approach connected to rock-and-roll culture. In 2020, the brand entered Chapter 11 proceedings under a proposed sale structure that separated its operating assets from its intellectual property: SPARC Group would acquire substantially all operating assets, while Authentic Brands Group’s ABG-Lucky subsidiary would acquire the brand’s intellectual-property assets. On January 8, 2025, SPARC Group merged with JCPenney to form Catalyst Brands; Lucky Brand was included among SPARC’s brands, while Authentic Brands Group continued to own its intellectual property licensed by SPARC. Lucky Brand also entered fragrance in 2000 with Lucky You for Women and Lucky You for Men, extending its apparel identity into a first fragrance pair.
