Luigi Borrelli

Luigi Borrelli is a Neapolitan shirtmaking and menswear house founded in 1957, when Luigi Borrelli established a shirt manufacturer under his own name. Its craft lineage reaches further back through his mother Anna, whose earlier workshop gave the family its shirtmaking foundation. The early product identity combined machine production with handwork and close attention to fit, expressing the character of Neapolitan tailoring. In the early 1980s, Luigi’s son Fabio developed an industrial model designed to retain high-sartorial qualities while making the business commercially viable, leading to the creation of Luigi Borrelli S.p.A. Fabio joined the business in 1980, and from 2001 the company extended its range beyond shirts into suits, jackets, trousers and knitwear. In fragrance, the Royal Collection of Fragrances translates the house’s fabric vocabulary into masculine scents. Presented at Pitti Uomo in Florence in 2016, the collection associates cotton, vicuña wool and cashmere with the brand’s aesthetic; Cashmere interprets the material through a contrast between transparent musk and dark woody-resinous tones.
