Lumira

Lumira was founded in Sydney, Australia, in 2013 by creative director Almira Armstrong. It began as a candle business handmade in Armstrong’s Sydney kitchen, launching with four candles. Its creative identity draws on travel, memory, place, atmosphere, and emotion, with scents conceived as olfactory portals to destinations and experiences. Armstrong develops visual mood boards and works closely with perfumers to translate the atmosphere of a place into fragrance. Lumira expanded from its original candle collection into home and personal fragrance, including perfume oils, parfums, room sprays, and body care. A three-year partnership with Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens began in 2018, with proceeds supporting research and conservation. In 2019, the brand launched its luxury parfum collection with Soleil du Maroc and Desert Nights. In 2022, Armstrong launched the Light the Way Forward initiative, linking Lumira’s sustainability and impact work to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By its tenth anniversary in 2023, Lumira had transitioned from its four original candles to a broader fragrance offering. Its black-jar candle range includes Cuban Tobacco and Tuscan Fig, while Cuban Tobacco continued to resonate globally across fragrance and home in 2026.
