M. Micallef

Founded in Grasse in 1996 by spouses Martine Micallef and Geoffrey Nejman, M. Micallef began as a partnership between an artist and former beauty-salon owner and a banker, combining visual creativity with business experience. The house built its identity around the union of art and perfume: Martine shaped its visual language through hand-decorated flacons, while Jean-Claude Astier became a major creative collaborator and was later described as its principal perfumer. Its fragrances draw on rich, warm and soft compositions, French haute parfumerie, and recurring influence from oud and Middle Eastern olfactory traditions. From 2018, Martine expanded the creative program through the Art Collection, collaborating with Alex Doll, Marianne Venderbosch and Ruh Zadeh on flacon designs; around 2019, a relaunch introduced a more modern, fresher and younger visual presentation while retaining the art-and-perfume concept. Ananda is a defining floral and powdery fragrance and collection, centered on violet and mimosa with white musk and vanilla in the base. In 2025, Hypnotic Musk expressed a contemporary identity rooted in Grasse heritage, hand-decorated bottles, rare ingredients and modern creative boundaries.
