Maison Balzac
Maison Balzac was created in Australia in 2012 by French-born Elise Pioch Balzac. It began with five perfumed candles and later developed into a homeware brand encompassing glassware, linen, platters and fragrances. Its design identity brings French tableware traditions to everyday dining and drinking, using playful objects and scent to create imaginative rituals. Elise Pioch Balzac remains publicly identified as the brand’s founder and creative director; her earlier experience included work at Hermès in Paris during Martin Margiela’s artistic direction and fashion buying in Australia. Maison Balzac’s fragrance legacy begins with its original five-candle collection, whose scents drew on Elise’s nostalgic memories of Sundays in France. One example, Le Bois, recalls a walk with her family in a nearby forest.
