Maison Incens

France-based fragrance house Maison Incens was founded by Philippe Constantin in 2013. Born in Cameroon to a French father and Moroccan mother, Constantin grew up in Casablanca before moving to France at 18 to study economics and international law. He created the house in honor of his father, Michel Constantin, whose manuscript imagined the fictional civilization of Artganis; the fragrances were conceived as that manuscript’s olfactory signature. In Artganis, scent is a principal code of communication, and Maison Incens uses the imagined civilization as the narrative framework for its fragrances. The house’s published evolution includes Black Opus (2014), Moroccan Tales (2016), Les Incensees (2021), and Quantum (2022). Its early fragrances were shaped by Grasse perfumer Jean-Claude Gigodot, Constantin’s mentor, with Irina Jourikhina also participating in the early work. Incense is the clearest thread in the house’s olfactory identity: Constantin wanted a different incense in every perfume, and the early collection was described as smoky and resinous. In November 2024, Maison Incens entered Japan through NOSE SHOP, including a collaboration fragrance.
